 Bring Change 2 Rusty "Do"

June 2020
It is with a broken heart that I share with you that Rusty crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in April. This little man brought so much joy to my life, to my other pups lives and to my boyfriend's life. What we thought was just weak back legs was
Degenerative myelopathy (DM), also known as chronic degenerative radiculomyelopathy (CDRM), a disease affecting the spinal cord, resulting in slowly progressive hind limb weakness and paralysis. The symptoms result from degeneration of the white matter of the spinal cord.

Rusty seemed to have been getting stronger for months, even running at times, especially at the beach, and even trying to climb over big tree trunks, but his body wasn't getting stronger, it was the love he felt that made him stronger. He was determined. Determined to climb up the dog stairs on the sofa, determined to run on the leash, determined to greet me at the door everytime I came home and determined to enjoy his time with us in the city.

In April, he was starting to get weaker. His little body started to give out, he didn't want to walk up the street anymore. I had no idea it would happen so fast. This is the first time I am writing about his passing because I still cry all the time. We see cardinals fly in front of us and we know it's him visiting. We miss you and love you so much Rusty 'Do" as we called him. We will never forget your nudges for attention, your whining because you wanted a snack, your 1/2 rolls with your mouth open with such happiness. We hope you are hearing the birds sing to you now because we know you are singing to us when we see a red cardinal fly by. Run and play with the other pups and we will see you again.

Love, Kate

Rusty's major dental surgery was a success. He is feeling much better after his front canine and his back molars were removed.

August 7, 2020
BC2A rescued me just in time. I am 11 or 12 years old and I weigh 35 lbs. I am a hound mix and I am a love. My Dad surrendered me, I think because I was old and I have a fatty lump on my side. I used to have doggie and kitty brothers and sisters and I do miss them and look around for them when I go outside.  I really didn't know why I was  put in doggie jail where I had to sleep on a hard cement floor. My back legs are weak because I was always tied to a chain, but my foster Mom is hoping I will gain strength with better nutrition and exercise. Right now after a long sleep, my legs give out and I fall down like a pancake but luckily my foster Mom and Dad help me up. My foster Mom is feeding me top of the line human grade food, called Ollie, which I can't get enough of! I am first in line before the other 2 doggies I currently live with. I love the outdoors and I nudge your arm or leg if I want to be petted, boy do I love being petted.

Would you help sponsor me? It's easy, just click the above Donate button and add me, 'Rusty', to your comment line so BC2A will know the donation is to go towards my care.  I want to keep improving and just love the Ollie food my foster Mom is feeding me, even though I know it's expensive. I am grateful for a second chance at a happy and healthy life. xoxo Love, Rusty
