Bring Change 2 Gideon![]() Update on Gideon: It is with a heavy heart that I share with you that Gideon is now in heaven. He was at APRA for about 5 months and his behavior began to decline the longer he lived at the rescue facility. Gideon was sent to a training program after he had bitten staff members and volunteers numerous times but his behavior did not get better. He aggressively lunged at individuals and he was deemed a dangerous dog. In honor of Gideon, APRA has devised a special rehabilitation program where dogs like Gideon will receive the extra rehabilitation and training they need to learn how to trust again. Rest in peace Gideon, we love you.
Gideon's Story: Gideon was a young male mix who was found as a stray in a field. He was drenched in oil when animal control picked him up and brought him to the shelter. He had wounds on his body, face and throat. He must have been chained to something sharp and tight because this baby's neck was so raw when we first saw him. We didn't think he would get up but he wanted a human touch so he slowly stood up and walked over to us. A week later, BC2A learned that Gideon was on the list to be put down because of his mange, a treatable skin condition, so BC2A agreed to be his initial foster. He began to get better and was very playful, however the other rescue dogs were not welcoming him so APRA agreed to take him. Thank you APRA for your efforts to train him and doing your best, during the months he was there, to find him a furever home. |
